Engaging: Bonny + James

Amorology

They met while in medical school.

He admires her loving and loyal nature. She loves his kind heart and his ability to keep her toes warm in the winter.

His guilty pleasure is video games. Hers is anything sweet!

Her favorite time of the year is Christmas. His is the start of a fresh spring.

She loves all things soft and romantic. He is drawn towards all things classic and traditional.

His go-to music involves the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Her favorite singers include Michael Buble and Mariah Carey.

If they could live anywhere in the world, they would live on the soft sandy beaches of Hawaii.

Bonny + James’ big day is full of all things Christmas and we can’t wait to share more of their warm love soon!

Real Weddings: Jules + Pina

Amorology

Our sweet Pina and Jules Del Vecchio have mutual friends to thank for their introduction back in 2008. Fast forward almost ten years, and the groom pulled out all the stops with an oh-so-sentimental proposal in Italy, no less, where both Pina and Jules’s grandfather were born and raised. After their whirlwind proposal and arriving back to the states, all of the fun planning started! Their vacation home in Encinitas, California was the perfect location for their wedding. It held a wedding-worthy terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean and had also become a gathering spot for both of the couples’ children and grandchildren, making it even more of a no-brainer for saying “I do.”

On the big day, the décor seamlessly alluded to the beautiful coastal surroundings with an elegant blend of seafoam blues, grays, and creamy whites. There was no shortage of sweet, personalized touches (many of them a surprise!) to keep things fresh and close to heart. Jules and Pina wanted their guests to feel extra special and treated their nearest and dearest to a box of favors, filled with an assortment of specialty items inspired by one of their go-to phrases, the “sweetness of doing nothing.”

Naturally, the couple incorporated their families into the celebration—Jules’ adorable grandchildren served as the ring bearers and flower girl in the outdoor terrace ceremony facing the sea, white bentwood chairs lined the aisle, where the couple's 28 guests sat beneath a flower-adorned pergola. The newlyweds continued the festivities with a seafoam blue-infused reception, where romantic string lights and cool fish motifs decorated the space. Blue velvet seats stored the guests’ favor boxes and complemented each table’s voluminous bundle of delicate florals. Each place setting was complete with a raw wood charger, teal dinner plate, and gold-rimmed glassware.

Instead of a wedding cake, the pair served an assortment of mini desserts, including blue-and- cream macarons, mini cheesecakes, and mini chocolate dishes before a dessert wall that captured the essence of their coastal cool day. One of the highlights for our sweet couple was the balloon sendoff! Rather than a traditional guest book, Jules and Pina asked friends and family to write down their well-wishes on a notecard, tie them to the string of a white biodegradable balloon, and then release them all together on the balcony.

This beautiful wedding was just featured on Brides and Carats and Cake and we are thrilled to be able to share it with you!

Real Weddings: Megan + Tyler

Amorology

These two love birds just celebrated their anniversary and we thought what better way to celebrate than to take a look back at their special day in Malibu!

College sweethearts Megan and Tyler's love story began when she fell in love with his pants. The sleepy boy who sat near her in class was well-known for these pants, enough to warrant him a very special nickname. Puzzle Pants (aka Tyler) and Megan's romance blossomed from their love of late nights, long mornings, and nap times, and we decided to weave this story into the concept of their wedding – Lovers & Dreamers.

Their wedding sat by the seaside at historic Adamson House in Malibu, CA where gentle waves lapped calmly at the banks of the shore. Dappled sunlight shone through the leaves of the Sycamore tree under which they wed as they said I Do, and guests sauntered into the courtyard area to be greeted by custom cocktails from Barcon – sip on a Suit & Ty or a Farmer's Daughter (a nod to Tyler's city boy background and Megan growing up on a farm) as you watch the clouds roll by. Their lovers and dreamers were then led to their seats by a sleep mask customized with their names and table assignments by Betlem Calligraphy on a backdrop from Back Up Backdrops. We alternated between wood tables and rounds draped in gilded gold linens from La Tavola. Wood tables were set with simple linen plates upon wooden chargers, with rose gold flatware, indigo edged-napkins, and classic cut crystal glassware, while rounds got simple linen chargers and pink sky napkins from Hostess Haven. We used velvet ribbons on the plates to add another pop of color in there with small sprigs of berries brought in by Olive Willow to complement the lush florals that crowned each table.

After warming up on the dance floor, guests were invited to enjoy “the rest” - i.e. a scrumptious spread of delicious goodies brought in by Hey There Cupcake. Guests continued to dance through the evening under the night sky and breezy palm trees to end a day that was altogether very Cali-cool, calm, and collected.
